The Brazilian Gear Conference ITA-WZL appears as a response to the potential demands for technological solutions and innovation researches for gears, as one of the initiatives of the partnership between CCM-ITA (Brazil) and WZL-RWTH Aachen (Germany).
The event approaches the topics of manufacturing technologies, product development and testing of gears, distributed in blocks considering the knowledge areas of: Surface integrity, Design for Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, and Power Density.
The technical seminars approach the global state-of-the-art and success cases of Academic-Industry partnership in gears and power transmission system segments. The event will have the participation of special guests renowned internationally in the industrial sector in discussion panels. At the end of the first day, an immersive Product Development Journey at CCM-ITA facilities with limited number of participants will be conducted, followed by cocktail. The second day will end with the CCM-ITA Open Doors.
The Brazilian Gear Conference ITA-WZL 2023 (BGC 23) will take place on October 18th and 19th, 2023 at Parque Tecnológico São José dos Campos, in the city of São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil. The event’s structure enables the participant to attend on either two days or the one of most interest.

Virtual Optimization of Transmission Systems and Gears with MSC Romax
CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Simulation Technology allows the design, development and optimization of mechanical assemblies in a completely virtual environment, that is, without the need to create physical prototypes. In this demonstration, a virtual analysis workflow of a transmission system will be presented, exploring the concepts of micro and macro geometry.
12:00 - 13:20 Lunch
The presentation will focus on investigating Ti and Nb-doped MoS2 coatings and their potential applications in enhancing the efficiency and durability of gears. The development of a novel high-speed disc-on-disc, aiming at running tests with analogous conditions that electric mobility brings, will also be presented.

As the load density increases and the gearboxes are downsized, the thermal dissipation capacity becomes a new challenge. Due to the imbalance between generated thermal power and thermal dissipation capacity, new mechanisms for optimizing gearbox cooling are required. This presentation will explore the importance of a method to evaluate the oil churning and the thermal behavior of gearboxes to attend these issues.
